I agreed with Brook’s ideal of Americans followership problem for many reasons. President Barack Obama was elected to be the President of the United States twice by the American people. Millions voted and agreed he was qualified enough to hold the highest office in the land. He went through the appropriate channels to achieve this position. Majority of the voters chose him to lead the country twice in the last eight years. Many Americans and others elected officials don’t support him and his decisions. Many Americans have an issue with his authority for many reason such as race, gender, or party affiliation . He have demonstrated multiple achievement while in office yet, many Americans still don’t respect him or uplift his great achievements a leader. Many Americans have the cynical attitude as mention in Brook’s Article “The Follower Problem” towards President Obama. Many American with the followership problem seek an avenue to condemn President Obama leadership and policies. I believe if an individual is voted to be in a leadership position then that person should be respected and honored. Also, the followership problem would be eliminated and there will be more great leaders with greater progress. Eisenhower quote “ Always try to associate yourself with and learn as much as you can from those who know more than you do, who do better than you, who see more clearly than you.” Goes hand in hand with the followership problem ideal.
Americans followership
problems is just equal as the Americans followership in my opinion. All leaders are not honest and fair leaders.
There are many leaders in America not fulfilling their duties as leader. Many leaders are in positions and making
horrible decisions such as the multiple killings of African American males by
white police officers. Many of the
policers are being found not guilty and justice is not being served. They
supposed to be leaders and suppose to protect and serve at all times. The current Presidential Election with Donald
Trump and Hillary Clinton is an awesome example of the Americans leadership
problem. Donald Trumps is running to be president,
but he is not qualified to be a leader. Some Americans are choosing to support Donald
Trump campaign even though he have displayed many episodes of rudeness and
disrespectfulness toward his own party followers and others on so many levels. Some Americans
have issues with choosing the adequate and efficient leaders.
In conclusion, I agreed with Brook’s article “The Follower
Problem” , but I also believe the leadership
problem is just as equal and relevant as the
followership problem .
